Sunday Morning Offerings
Open Bible Study led by Carol Nicla: Join us in
a new study on the book "A Hop, Skip & A Jump Through the Bible"
by J. Ellsworth Kalas. We meet in room 108 every Sunday from 10:15-11:15
a.m. All are welcome.
G.P.S.-Grow, Pray, Study led by Karen Rankin & others: CHRISTIANITY
& WORLD RELIGIONS- wrestling with questions people ask. This is
a video based study. As part of the study, author and presenter Adam Hamilton
interviews a religious leader from four faith traditions-Hinduism, Buddism,
Islam & Judaism. Reverend Hamilton recognizes the unique contributions
of each as he compares their beliefs with those of Christianity. This
eight week study will meet in room 108.
Looking ahead: If you are interested in reading for the next session
of the GPS class, we will be studying an exciting new book, THE HOLE IN
OUR GOSPEL, by Richard Stearns, president of World Vision US. What does
God Expect of us? Is our faith just about going to church, studying the
bible and avoiding the most serious sins-or does God expect more? THE
HOLE IN THE GOSPEL will call us to a higher level of discipleship as we
read and discuss the compelling story of a corporate CEO who set aside
worldly success for something far more significant and discovered the
power of Jesus Christ to change his life. Books are available in the church
office for a discount price of $15.00.
Weekday Offerings
YOGA returns to St. Luke. 6 week YOGA classes will
begin on Tuesday, September 9 from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. and Wednesday,
September 10 from 6:30-7:30 P.M. Classes will be held in Fellowship Hall
and taught by Rhonda Mesanovic from YogaLoft. Six week sessions will continue
throughout the year. Each 6 week session is designed as basic exercise
for all levels of fitness. This is a safe place for beginners to give
yoga a try and a great place for experienced yoga students to join their
Christian friends. Physical exercise can be a spiritual practice that
brings our bodies, minds and spirits into balance when we believe that
our bodies are gifts from God. Each session costs $30.00 or special price
of $55.00 for 12 weeks if you register and include payment for the first
two yoga sessions.

General Information
Great Kids is a family-focused educational program for Sheboygan County
parents with young children. Our mission is to affirm shared responsibility
for parenting and to encourage social, economic, and religious efforts
to maintain and strengthen relationships within families. Parents and
preschool-aged children meet twice monthly (September through May) on
the first and third Thursdays at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sheboygan.
Advance registration is required, and enrollment is limited. Please contact
the church at 458-3461 for more information.
History
Through the help of the Family Resource Center, Beth Finch founded Great
Kids in 1996. Beth was new to the area and looking for a place to meet
with other parents to learn about parenting issues. Eventually the group
disconnected from the Family Resource Center and became one of St. Luke's
adult ministries. St. Luke continues to provide a venue for parents to
meet on an ongoing basis and offers social support for both parents and
children.
Rosemary G. Clarke Scholarship Fund
If you are unable to afford registration fees, financial assistance is
available through the Rosemary G. Clarke Scholarship Fund. In February
1998, Joe and Denise Clarke established this scholarship fund after the
birth of their stillborn daughter, Rosemary Grace. Denise was 38 weeks
pregnant at the time and had no reason to believe there were any irregularities
with her pregnancy. The people of Great Kids were a huge source of support
for Denise and her family, offering meals, babysitting, and many hugs.
The Clarke family used the memorial fund to establish this scholarship
so that any parent, regardless of financial position and ability to pay,
can have access to the support of such a close-knit group.
