United Methodist Women

United Women in Faith (formerly United Methodist Women)
at St. Luke is a community of women whose purpose is:

To know God and to experience freedom
through Jesus Christ
:
  • Devotions at every meeting.
  • Bible studies in response magazine
  • Spiritual Growth studies through Mission u
  • The Prayer Calendar (daily lectionary readings and prayer lists of missionary personnel and projects)
To enjoy creative, supportive fellowship:
  • At monthly meetings
  • At small group and circle meetings
  • Working together on fundraisers
  • Celebrating births, birthdays, achievements
  • Caring for those who are ill or who have losses
To study, understand, and participate in global mission
and ministries
(local, conference-wide, nation-wide, world-wide):
  • By reading our mission magazines- response and New World Outlook
  • Through our Reading Program with books in five categories: Spiritual Growth, Mission Education, Social Action, Nurturing for Community, and Leadership
  • Through mission trips to see mission projects, to help at mission sites, or to experience other cultures
  • By seeing the plights of our neighbors and taking action: Domestic violence, Human trafficking, Immigration reform,
  • Protecting the environment.
  • By participating in National Assembly each quadrennium

Membership

St. Luke United Women in Faith (formally United Methodist Women) started in 1873 and has evolved into the present Christian membership organization whose purpose is study, service and financial support of missions. We are part of a worldwide organization of over 800,000 members who support U.S. and international projects and partners improving the lives of women, children and youth with their prayers, volunteer and advocacy efforts, and financial gifts.  

Locally St. Luke UWF supports Northcott Neighborhood House, Children’s Services/Transitional Living, Food Pantry, Safe Harbor, Love INC, Laundry Love, Head Start, Salvation Army, Harbor House, Superior, WI.

Any woman may become a member of UWF if she chooses to join and commit herself to the PURPOSE of the organization through giving, prayer, study and service. We sincerely invite you to become a United Methodist Woman and join us as we put faith, hope and love into action for women, children and youth in our global communities around the world.

St. Luke United Women in Faith 
​Circles and Groups

St. Luke UWF has seven active circles where everyone is welcome. Our circles offer educational experiences to inspire spiritual growth, personal development, and community nurture. Membership in our circles is optional; in fact, there are various options available for our members. They can join one of our seven circles, join at large, and attend any number of circles, or participate by attending UWF activities and unit meetings.

Anna Howard Shaw Circle
Third Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Church Parlor
We meet to talk, share, learn, give, support, laugh, and eat. Join us for a variety of informative and fun programs. 

Circle of Creative Crafters
Third weekend of each month in Church Parlor;
Friday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.

All crafters invited to attend (scrapbooking, quilting, card making, counted cross-stitch, knitting, crocheting, etc.) Bring your own craft projects, leave set up for the entire time. We collect $5 per day/$10 for the weekend to go UWF to pledge to support missions.

Eve Reading Circle
Fourth Monday at 1;30 p.m. at Sheboygan Senior Center
If you like book discussions, this circle focuses on the suggested list for the UWF reading program. 

Lydia Rachel Circle
Second Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Sheboygan Senior Community 
(April through December)

A group meeting to lift awareness of and raise funds for mission work, have informative programs and serve where we are needed.

Red Hat Circle
Meets monthly-locations vary
Meets monthly to promote sisterhood and friendship. We celebrate our lives as older women but welcome all.

Sarah Reading Circle
Second Thursday at 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in Church Library
A group that educates ourselves in the area of mission, social action, spiritual growth, and nurturing community by preparing a tasty dish for food pantry clients.

Susanna Circle
Meets quarterly, locations vary.
A group of women of all ages that promotes mission by taking on projects to support women and children.

UWF Activities
There are four general meetings for all women of St. Luke as well as events to raise funds for mission like our Christmas Bazaar & Vendor Fair every November.
